How Decreases Work

The Selection

The number of rows in your selection when using the Decrease Without Shape command is important. If you are repeating the decrease with the same number of rows between multiple decreases, the number of rows in your initial selection determines the number of rows between the repeats.

In the example below, 10 rows (row 10 through 19 inclusive) were originally selected. The app inserts the decrease after row 19. Because 10 rows were originally selected, 10 rows above the decrease have the reduced number of stitches in this single iteration of the decrease. (Repeat = 1)

Often you'll want the same interval between decreases over several rows. This is shown in the next video with decreases over 1x1 and 2x2 ribs.

Rib Decreases and Repeats

A "reversible" option for double jersey jacquard fabrics is now available in the Params tab for the Decrease Transfers command. The command (pictured below) generates 2 xfers to make the decrease.

Ticking TransferBerforeXfer will transfer the front bed edge stitch to the rear bed before the decrease xfer. See more decreases with double jacquard in the Decreases for Round Neckline and Armholes lesson. Scroll down to the Round Neckline (Crewneck) with 2-Color Double Jacquard section.

Notes

  • Default values for decrease transfers appear in the options columns on the left-hand side. Use the Options field in the Params tab to easily edit the settings across all transfers in the selected area, if needed.
